  I *can* attest that this pressing is a sort of remix or rough cut that's quite distinct from the original album, with my synth parts either absent or buried in the mix, and backing vocals either missing or way too loud. It's like listening to the session demos we had for HC and DSM. It's a fascinating listen, no doubt, but I gotta say, Reg Strikes Back deserves a proper remaster/reissue of the actual album, 'cause this ain't it.

  Following numerous years of vagueness, Reg(inald) Dwight returns in fine form. This album is somewhat marred by that typical mid-eighties sound where Roland keyboards dominate too much. Why not swap them out for a classic grand piano? Still, it showcases some brilliant songwriting, particularly on side A. Poor cow and Since God invented girls make for a fantastic finish too.

  Ugh. ... steer clear of this one if possible! Yet another 'brickwalled' mix or remaster or something. There's zero audio dynamics here at all ... boring and flat are the first nice words that pop into my head. Really let down.

  I'm shocked that this is called the “Classic Years” when Breaking Hearts isn’t included! There's not much depth to this album and his vocals often come across as quite rehearsed.
