I gotta say, this project stands as the top Ed Sheeran album in his whole collection. Nearly every song packs a punch, featuring powerful kicks, deep basslines, dance-pop vibes, trap beats, and irresistible hooks. It's a real shame that this kind of electro-pop has faded away. These days, pop music is all about rock ballads or that 80's synth-pop sound. No more modern electronic pop. Plus, Ed Sheeran never brought back this formula in any of his other albums, neither the older ones nor the newer ones.
This album sounds fantastic! No flat spots, pops, clicks, or noise to be found. If you're into Ed Sheeran but fancy a change, like some hiphop, rap, and more, you gotta check this out! Used my Pro-ject Debut Pro with Mofi Ultratracker pickup to spin it.
This vinyl is absolutely amazing! It's stunning and sleek, and the variety of artists he's worked with is fascinating. Young Thug, Cardi B, Eminem—it's an unexpected mix, but the tracks he's created are all pretty good. I'd definitely recommend checking out "Cross Me" and "Anti Social." Some people might be put off by what they call "harsh mouthed rappers," but if they actually listened to the lyrics instead of just focusing on the occasional swear word, they'd appreciate the quality of this album. Plus, it's clearly marked as explicit on the packaging, so you know what you're getting. So go ahead and trash Ed all you want, but you don't have to listen if you don't like it.
This is hands-down the finest contemporary vinyl in my collection. And the fact that the quality is superb is just icing on the cake.
This mixtape left me feeling let down. I first discovered Ed through his collab with Yela ("Slumdon Bridge"), and after hearing "Remember The Name" with Eminem, I was anticipating something more soulful, not a collection of trendy pop songs. It's true that Side B is the highlight of "No.6" – when Ed addresses his issues with the industry and his disillusionment with fame, he's at his best. But when he conforms to expectations on the rest of the album, you'll find yourself wishing that Side B was a standalone EP and the rest of the record was in the trash. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and with all the features on this tape, a new listener like me might only see Sheeran as a guest artist in the future, making it tough for anyone with my taste to pay attention to another solo project from him.
