I'd rate it 3 stars, though it's closer to 3.5. This is a really good pressing, but it's a tad compressed and the bass frequencies could be a smidge stronger. The bass drum is somewhat lacking. The instruments are well-separated, there's hardly any noise, and the highs are clear without being harsh.
I gotta say, this is a pretty solid pressing of one of my all-time fav BJ albums. The clear vinyl is a perfect match for the album's title and artwork. Highly recommend it!
Billy Joel's best album ever, packed with awesome songs.
This vinyl record is flat, silent, and weighs 180 grams. Kevin Gray has done a fantastic job on this crucial album in rock history. Compared to my Dutch edition from the 1980s, which sounds more compact, smooth, and powerful, this remastered version expands the stereo image and soundstage, making it more open and present. While the bass is still there and might push the vocals slightly back, the vocals actually gain clarity and definition like never before, with all other instruments perfectly balanced. In my view, this edition is definitely worth buying, given its audiophile quality.
Just like all the other 2022 Billy Joel reissues from Walmart, this one's a gem! Glass Houses is no exception to the rule. The vinyl is super quiet, perfectly flat, and has a gorgeous blue hue. The sound quality is top-notch, with bass and drums that really pack a punch. The synths, keyboards, and guitars all shine too. Grab a copy and turn it up loud!
