In addition to the cathedral choir, The Merbecke Choir, named after the English theological writer John Merbecke, is an amateur chamber choir that sings a diverse range of music to a high standard. This choir is unique as it is the only amateur chamber choir attached to a London cathedral and is composed mostly of singers in their twenties. The Choir of Southwark Cathedral is not just a musical ensemble but a vital part of the community, singing regular choral services throughout the week and welcoming visiting choirs to share in their ministry.
