Kadri Gopalnath

Kadri Gopalnath (1949 – 2019) was a trailblazing Indian musician renowned for his mastery of the alto saxophone in the realm of Carnatic music. Born in Bantwal taluk, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, Gopalnath's journey began with a chance encounter with the instrument during a performance by the Mysore Palace Band. Over nearly two decades, he meticulously adapted the saxophone to the intricate nuances of Indian classical music, becoming one of its pioneers.
