Josef Suk

Josef Suk (1929–2011) was a distinguished Czech musician, renowned for his virtuosity on both the violin and viola, as well as his conducting prowess. Born into a musical family, Suk was a pupil of the legendary Antonín Dvořák and married Dvořák's daughter, Otýlie. His compositions, which include chamber music and orchestral works, are celebrated for their lyrical beauty and emotional depth. Suk's career spanned several decades, during which he served as the second violinist of the esteemed Bohemian String Quartet and later taught composition at the Prague Conservatoire. His discography offers a rich tapestry of classical and chamber music, showcasing his exceptional talent and artistic legacy.
