It's not often that you encounter an issue with AP pressings, but I got in touch with Acoustic Sounds after buying two copies and found out that both had pressing problems. They very kindly replaced all four discs from my two copies, even though I had managed to get one of them to a point where I was satisfied. This is why they're THE top choice for customer service and backing their products. I'm even happier to report that the persistence to find a good copy has paid off because this remaster truly blasts off into the stratosphere! Compared to the yellow vinyl KPG Rhino Black edition from a few years back, this version is WAY more open, dynamic, and full of life. It's a completely different league and a delight to listen to. There are a couple of moments where Aretha's performance gets a bit heated, but it's not a major issue, and I can easily recommend this version and more!
Kudos to Chad Kassem! This was crafted and pressed with such care! Absolutely phenomenal in every aspect. Crystal clear, perfectly balanced, and Aretha's voice brings the room alive with its richness. No need to search any further.
The pressing is a tad noisy, but apart from that, the audio is crisp and sounds fantastic! I reckon they've done a superb job overall with this pressing. Even the sleeve looks top-notch, as it's made from cardboard.
Yet another fantastic Aretha AP/Atlantic 75th Anniversary release. This album showcases some of Aretha's finest work, packed with chart-toppers and lesser-known gems, and it's never sounded more captivating and revealing. It's a home run - arguably the best version of this classic yet.
This pressing delivers a wonderfully open and perfectly balanced sound. The bass is indeed deep and robust, yet you can still catch every crack of Bernard Purdie's snare and the crispness of Aretha's high notes, just as they're meant to be heard. I'd wager this was mastered from a digital source, as analog is usually mentioned, but the mastering here is top-notch. Unless you stumble upon a pristine original, this is likely your best bet. Though, the disc color is truly dreadful.
