Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical music with William Primrose's "William Primrose Collection, Vol. 4." This exquisite album, released in 2005 by Doremi, showcases the extraordinary talent of William Primrose, a renowned violist, accompanied by Franz Rupp on the piano. The collection spans a rich tapestry of musical styles, from the neo-classical elegance of Handel to the romantic fervor of Berlioz, all interpreted through the lens of Primrose's masterful artistry.

The album opens with a Viola Concerto in the Style of Handel, a three-movement piece that exudes the grace and sophistication of the Baroque era. Primrose's virtuosity shines through in each movement, from the lively Allegro moderato to the tender Andante ma non troppo, culminating in the exhilarating Allegro molto.

The second half of the album features a live performance of Berlioz's "Harold in Italy," a symphony with viola obbligato that takes the listener on a journey through the picturesque landscapes of Italy. Each movement paints a vivid picture, from the serene "Harold in the Mountains" to the dramatic "Orgy of the Brigands."

The album concludes with Fritz Kreisler's "Praeludium & Allegro in the Style of Pugnani," a piece that showcases Primrose's technical prowess and musical sensitivity. This arrangement for viola and piano is a testament to the enduring appeal of classical music and the timeless talent of William Primrose.

With a total duration of just over an hour, "William Primrose Collection, Vol. 4" is a treasure trove of classical masterpieces, expertly performed by one of the most celebrated violists of all time. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to delight and inspire.
