Joni Mitchell's final masterpiece. The audio quality is outstanding. An original pressing beats any re-release hands down.
In general, this album's mastering is quite hotly done, it's upfront but not overbearing. It captures all of Mitchell's amazing pop elements without diving too much into her jazz side. 'Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody' is a standout track from her later years.
Amazing album, brimming with jazz and a touch of pop, Larry Klein's bass playing is superb, reminiscent of Jaco (though he's no Jaco, naturally) and hey, he's married to Joni Mitchell :))) Russel Ferrante and Wayne Shorter, along with Vinnie Colaiuta, are absolute gold here, but it all comes together perfectly in the tracks and balance, and this record nails it 110%. Fantastic engineering and pressing, this record sounds like a treasure.
I'm really digging this music, even if it's not my top pick from Joni or what everyone else might prefer. The record pressing is out of this world!!! The clarity, detail, and separation are just insane, creating an amazing soundstage and realism that's truly mind-blowing. I can't seem to find any details about this "audiophile brown vinyl," but it reminds me of that '81 MoFi DSotM, and these two are probably the best sounding records in my collection. If you come across a copy, don't hesitate to snag it!
The audio quality on my version of this record is absolutely amazing! As for the music, it's a fantastic album too. Wayne Shorter's parts are really cool!!
