About Jakob Bro

Jakob Bro is a Danish guitarist and composer who has made a significant mark on the international jazz scene. Born in 1978, Bro's journey began with a switch from trumpet to guitar, inspired by the legendary Jimi Hendrix. Since then, he has released over 20 albums as a bandleader, collaborating with jazz greats such as Paul Motian, Tomasz Stanko, Lee Konitz, and Charles Lloyd. His music is often described as magical and impossible to categorize, with songs that sparkle like jewels in mid-air, reflecting and refracting light in unique ways. Bro's latest works include "Strands," a live recording with Danish jazz masters Palle Mikkelborg and Marilyn Mazur, and "Taking Turns," featuring an all-star cast including Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, and Andrew Cyrille. Based in Copenhagen, Jakob Bro continues to push the boundaries of jazz with his poetic approach and distinctive sound.
