Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I'm on board with the notion that minimalism isn't about lacking something, but instead is a refined, sleek, pure version of something – the core of an idea. This album is a stellar illustration of minimalist brilliance. Marconi Union has consistently excelled at crafting simple, evocative tunes, then adorning them with either somber downtempo, gloomy post-rock, or throbbing dub. This time, they've stripped it all back, and six "bare" tracks comprise the entire album. It's one of their finest, and not just for them, but in the genre too. Meditative is a term often linked to this record (check out Acoustician's review above), and it's genuinely one of the most meditative pieces I've ever listened to. Marconi Union sets the standard: whatever they tackle, they do it exceptionally well.
