About Marco Pereira

Marco Pereira is a renowned Brazilian classical guitarist, born in São Paulo in 1956. His musical journey began under the tutelage of the esteemed Uruguayan guitarist and teacher Isaias Savio, who introduced him to the techniques of Miguel Llobet. Pereira's academic pursuits led him to obtain a master's degree from the University of Paris-Sorbonne, where he explored the works of Heitor Villa-Lobos, a prominent figure in Brazilian music.

As a prolific artist, Marco Pereira has released numerous solo albums, including "Dança dos Quatro Ventos," "Elegia," and "Brasil Musical," showcasing his deep connection to Brazilian musical traditions. His compositions have been published by prestigious houses like Éditions Lémoine of Paris and Guitar Solo Publications of San Francisco, cementing his reputation as a respected composer and arranger.

Beyond his performances, Pereira is also a dedicated educator, teaching harmony, composition, arranging, and improvisation at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). His contributions to Brazilian music have been recognized with awards such as the Prêmio da Música Brasileira for Best Arranger of MPB (1993) and Best Soloist/Best Instrumental Album (1994).

With a career spanning decades, Marco Pereira continues to captivate audiences with his virtuosic playing and innovative compositions, making him a standout figure in the world of classical and Brazilian guitar music.
