Product description

Immerse yourself in the timeless brilliance of Victor de Sabata's recordings with the captivating album "Victor de Sabata – Recordings On Deutsche Grammophon And Decca." Released on November 24, 2017, this extraordinary collection showcases the maestro's unparalleled artistry across a diverse range of operatic and symphonic masterpieces. Spanning a remarkable 4 hours and 28 minutes, the album is a testament to de Sabata's profound musical insight and his ability to evoke deep emotional resonance from every note.

The album opens with a powerful rendition of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98, followed by Richard Strauss's evocative "Tod und Verklärung, Op. 24." De Sabata's interpretations are both nuanced and dynamic, bringing a fresh perspective to these classic works. The inclusion of excerpts from Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" and Richard Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" highlights de Sabata's mastery of opera, delivering performances that are both technically flawless and deeply moving.

The album also features de Sabata's stunning rendition of Mozart's "Requiem In D Minor, K.626," a work that showcases his ability to convey the profound spirituality and drama of this iconic piece. Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-Flat Major, Op. 55 "Eroica," is another standout, with de Sabata's interpretation bringing out the heroic and revolutionary spirit of the music.

Complementing these larger works are shorter pieces such as Franz Liszt's "Roman Festivals, P. 157" and Jean Sibelius's "Valse triste, Op. 44," each performed with the same level of precision and passion that de Sabata is renowned for. The album concludes with the thrilling "The Ride of the Walkyres" from Richard Wagner's "Die Walküre," a fitting finale to this extraordinary collection.

Recorded under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon and Decca labels, this album is a must-listen for anyone seeking to experience the pinnacle of classical music performance. Victor de Sabata's recordings are not just a collection of songs but a journey through the rich tapestry of classical music, offering a glimpse into the genius of one of the greatest conductors of all time.

About Victor de Sabata

Victor de Sabata, born in Trieste in 1892, was an Italian conductor and composer who left an indelible mark on the world of opera. Hailing from a musical family, with his father being a singing teacher and choirmaster, de Sabata's passion for music was ignited at an early age. A virtuoso violinist and pianist, he was perhaps best known for his extraordinary conducting skills, which earned him a place among the world's leading conductors. Post-World War II, de Sabata made a significant impact in London in 1946, becoming the first conductor from the German-Italian Axis to appear there after the war. His discography is a treasure trove for collectors, featuring notable works like his suite from the ballet "Mille e una notte." De Sabata's recordings, available on platforms like Qobuz and Apple Music, offer an unparalleled sound quality that continues to captivate audiences today.
