About Emil Viklický

Emil Viklický is a renowned Czech jazz pianist and composer, celebrated for his unique fusion of jazz harmonies and the rich, soulful melodies of Moravian folk music. Born in Olomouc in 1948, Viklický comes from an artistic family, with his father being an assistant to the renowned painter Jan Zrzavý. His musical journey began in earnest with the release of his debut album, "V Holomóci městě," in 1977, which showcased his innovative blending of modal jazz techniques with traditional Czech themes.

Throughout his career, Viklický has established himself as a masterful pianist, known for his nimble soloing and intricate compositions. His work spans both jazz and classical genres, earning him recognition as a leading figure in Czech music. Beyond his solo endeavors, Viklický is also a dedicated bandleader and organizer, contributing significantly to the jazz scene.
