Product description

Colin Stetson's "Uzumaki" is a chilling and atmospheric journey into the eerie world of the iconic manga by Junji Ito, brought to life through the composer's distinctive and haunting soundscapes. This original soundtrack, set to accompany the anime series premiering on Adult Swim in September 2024, is a masterclass in creating tension and unease through music. With a runtime of just over 41 minutes, the album features 13 tracks that weave together to form a cohesive and immersive auditory experience.

Stetson's signature avant-garde style is on full display, blending eerie melodies with intricate rhythms to create a sense of dread and fascination. Each track, from the opening "Uzumaki" to the closing "Medusa," is meticulously crafted to enhance the spine-tingling narrative of the anime. The vinyl release, available in a striking black and white spiral design, is a collector's item that fans of both the manga and Stetson's work will cherish. Whether you're a longtime admirer of Colin Stetson's music or a newcomer to his unique sound, "Uzumaki" promises to be a standout addition to any music collection. The album is set to be released on September 27, 2024, under the Milan Records label, with a vinyl release following on November 15, 2024.

This LP is pressed on Picture Disc vinyl.

  • Impressive Picture Disc Audio Quality

    5 out of 5 stars
    etjofyefevx_yiqMay 14, 2025United States🇺🇸

Absolutely fantastic score. Given that it's on a picture disc, I was pleasantly surprised by the audio quality, which is far better than some other picture discs I've heard. Perhaps I just got a good copy, but there are only a few spots with noticeable pops and the overall surface noise is quite low. This is impressive considering it's a dynamic score with softer sections. If you're into similar stuff, I'd definitely check out Hildur Guðnadóttir's work on Chernobyl (and her Joker soundtrack is awesome too), the Mandy soundtrack by Jóhann Jóhannsson, and Tom Holkenborg's Furiosa score.

  • Enjoy Stunning Album Quality

    5 out of 5 stars

This is a stunning album that sounds fantastic if you've got a decent sound system. Just make sure to clean the discs before playing them, mine sound amazing, with hardly any pops or cracks. When there are some, it actually adds a creepy vibe to the music. I bought three copies and listened to all of them, and they all sounded great. I think some people are just naturally negative and complain about everything, even when there's nothing to complain about. Life's too short, just enjoy the music...literally.

  • Uzumaki's Soundtrack Shines Despite Flaws

    3 out of 5 stars
    qinuxahqoNovember 15, 2024United States🇺🇸

Just like the recent anime series, Uzumaki appears to be jinxed in every version except the original manga. One of the standout aspects of the adaptation was Colin Stetson's haunting and tension-inducing soundtrack. It's absolutely brilliant and was sadly underused in the show. This release isn't spared from the curse either. The spiral graphic on the picture disk is stunning and unsettling. The cover art is a fantastic original piece by Junji Ito himself. However, my goodness, the amount of surface noise, pops, and inconsistent sound mixing really detracts from this release. Well, at least there's no more room for disappointment from the adaptation now!
