Amazing pressing, perfectly flat, super quiet, sounds fantastic!! VPI Signature 21 (Table) Ortofon X40 (Cart)
Far from your typical hair band stuff... in my view, this is the finest TS album out there. Back then, the band was raw, gritty, and heavy as hell. If you're searching for 'Stay Hungry,' you've taken a wrong turn. This album screams of the grimy NYC from the '80s. Listen at your own risk. Standout tracks: 'Destroyer,' 'Under the Blade,' and 'Tear it loose'...
This is identical to the 1999 Spitfire release, sharing the same dynamic range and peak levels, etc. Essentially, it's a reissue of that version, just a decade later. The only difference is the color of the CD β the original was black, while this one's pink.
Initially, I gave each record a good clean with a velvet brush and a simple cleaning solution. The two silver vinyl LPs each weigh in at around 148-151 grams on my scale, while the gatefold cover tips the scales at 158 grams. It came with standard white paper inner sleeves, not the lined kind. No extra inserts were included. The gatefold is filled with plenty of photos, and the back cover has some details about recording the album in England, penned by the band themselves. Unfortunately, the first LP is warped to such an extent that I'm sending the whole album back. It wasn't completely unplayable, but it was close, and when you're shelling out $70.00 for a double LP... The second LP is warped too, just not as badly. I also noticed that the cover/jacket was starting to show some ring wear. The sound quality is decent enough.
Man, that locked groove in the end part after Day of the Rocker might just catch you off guard!
