Product description

Ludwig Güttler, a renowned trumpeter, presents a captivating collection of contemporary trumpet music on this 1997 album. The disc features compositions by Paul Hindemith, Henri Sauguet, Bernd Franke, Siegfried Thiele, Reiner Bredemeyer, and Siegfried Matthus, offering a diverse range of styles and influences. The album kicks off with the dynamic Concerto for Trumpet and Bassoon, showcasing Güttler's virtuosity alongside Eckart Konigstedt's bassoon skills. The piece is followed by the reflective Nec morietur in aeternam and the evocative Chagall-Impressionen, a six-movement suite that draws inspiration from the art of Marc Chagall.

Güttler is joined by Friedrich Kircheis on organ for the piece Musik for Organ and Trumpet, demonstrating the powerful synergy between these two instruments. The album also includes the intriguing Di As (+ -), a unique composition that explores the boundaries of trumpet performance. The Concerto for Trumpet and Timpani, with its five contrasting movements, is a highlight of the album, featuring Güttler in a dialogue with the timpani, performed by Burkhard Glaetzner.

Recorded with the Berlin Classics label, this album is a testament to Ludwig Güttler's exceptional artistry and his commitment to contemporary music. The performances are marked by technical brilliance, expressive depth, and a keen sense of musical storytelling. With a duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes, the album offers a rich and engaging listening experience, showcasing the trumpet's versatility and the composer's innovative spirit.
