About François Raulin

François Raulin is a French pianist and composer whose musical journey is as captivating as his performances. Born in Annecy in 1956, Raulin's love for jazz was ignited by his father's extensive record collection, introducing him to legends like Lionel Hampton and Erroll Garner. By his teens, Raulin was engrossed in the works of Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong, setting the stage for his future in music.

Raulin's path to becoming a professional musician was unconventional. After pursuing mathematics in Grenoble, he decided to dedicate himself to jazz, also exploring contemporary composition and traditional music. This diverse background is evident in his unique piano style and compositions, which blend ethnical, impressionist, and playful elements.

Raulin's career has been marked by collaborations with notable musicians, including clarinettist Louis Sclavis, with whom he has performed in various ensembles. He has led several groups, such as the François Raulin Trio and the Collectif La Forge, and has contributed to numerous projects, including a tentet with Didier Levallet and a trio with François Corneloup and Ramon Lopez.

His discography is a testament to his versatility and creativity, with albums like "Trois Plans Sur La Comète" and "Echoes of Spring" showcasing his distinctive sound. Whether performing solo or with an ensemble, Raulin's performances are a rich tapestry of colors and atmospheres, offering a unique experience for every listener.
