This is a fantastic live performance featuring three exceptional musicians who came together for a unique show. Despite having only a few practice sessions before hitting the stage, you'd barely notice their lack of extensive preparation (except for a brief, awkard moment when Pastorious is left soloing alone). The setlist is incredibly varied, ranging from free jazz, post-bop to funk. Mangelsdorff's compositions are incredibly catchy, and his technique—like playing chords and singing simultaneously—is as impressive as ever. Pastorious shines, and Mouzon's ability to react in milliseconds to his bandmates' tonal and rythmic shifts is truly astonishing. The recording and pressing quality is top-notch for a live album. My only minor complaint is that the stage seems to lean a bit center-left.
