Product description

Steve Kuhn's 1974 album, Trance, is a captivating jazz masterpiece that showcases the pianist's exceptional skill and artistry. Recorded over two days in November 1974 at Generation Sound Studios in New York City, this ECM Records release features a talented quartet comprising Steve Kuhn on piano and electric piano, Steve Swallow on electric bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums, and Sue Evans on percussion.

The eight-track album, with a duration of 37 minutes, takes the listener on a journey through a diverse range of emotions and moods. From the opening title track, Trance, to the closing piece, Life's Backward Glance, Steve Kuhn's compositions demonstrate his profound understanding of jazz and his ability to craft intricate, yet accessible, melodies.

With the support of his accomplished bandmates, Steve Kuhn delivers a series of outstanding performances, including the thought-provoking A Change Of Face, the mesmerising Something Everywhere, and the elegant Silver. The Young Blade, with its soaring rhythms and poignant piano work, is another highlight of the album.

Trance is a testament to Steve Kuhn's status as a leading figure in contemporary jazz, and his collaboration with Steve Swallow, Jack DeJohnette, and Sue Evans results in a truly unforgettable listening experience. Released in 1975, this album has stood the test of time, and its influence can still be felt in the jazz world today.

This is a 1984 Reissue released as a LP.
