About Giovanni Maria Trabaci

Giovanni Maria Trabaci (ca. 1575 – 1647) was a seminal figure in the early Baroque period, renowned for his prolific compositions and virtuoso organ playing. Born in Montepeloso, now Irsina, Trabaci's musical journey began as a singer and organist in Naples, ultimately leading him to the prestigious role of organist and maestro di cappella at the Royal Court Chapel of Naples. His legacy is marked by an impressive output of over 300 surviving works, with a particular emphasis on innovative keyboard music that has left an indelible mark on the history of Italian music. Trabaci's contributions span various genres, showcasing his versatility and mastery of the musical language of his time.
