Product description

Francesco Tristano's "Tokyo Stories" is a captivating exploration of the Japanese capital through the lens of neoclassical music. Released on May 3, 2019, under Sony Classical, this album is a testament to Tristano's deep admiration for Tokyo, as evidenced by the 16 original compositions that make up the collection. Each track is a unique musical narrative, inspired by the city's vibrant essence and diverse landscapes, from the bustling streets of Shinjuku to the serene beauty of Meguro.

The album spans 56 minutes, offering a rich tapestry of sounds that blend classical piano with subtle electronic elements, creating a contemporary and evocative soundscape. Collaborations with notable artists like Guti, Michel Portal, U-zhaan, Keiichiro Shibuya, and Hiroshi Watanabe add depth and variety to the album, showcasing Tristano's versatility and collaborative spirit.

"Tokyo Stories" is not just an album; it's a journey through the heart of Tokyo, capturing the city's dynamic energy and tranquil moments. Tracks like "Neon City" and "Electric Mirror" reflect the city's modern, neon-lit allure, while pieces like "Chi No Oto" and "The Third Bridge at Nakameguro" offer a more introspective and serene perspective. • Tokyo's Atmosphere Captured Perfectly

Upon its digital debut, this album swiftly ascended to the top of my favorites list. Tristano has an uncanny ability to encapsulate the essence of Tokyo's atmosphere. This release is a treasure trove of alternate versions and mixes of the original tracks, and I must say, I'm even more enamored with it than the digital version. The audio quality and pressing are impeccable. Unlike many overrated "limited" editions, this one is fairly priced and absolutely worth the investment.
