Product description

"Three Trumpets" is a captivating jazz album led by the brilliant trumpeter Art Farmer, alongside fellow virtuosos Donald Byrd and Idrees Sulieman. Recorded in 1957 at the iconic Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, this album is a testament to the golden era of hard bop and cool jazz. The collaboration between these three exceptional musicians resulted in a harmonious blend of bebop and cool jazz elements, creating a sound that is both dynamic and sophisticated.

The album features five tracks, each showcasing the intricate interplay between the three trumpets, supported by a stellar rhythm section. From the lively "Palm Court Alley" to the soulful "You Gotta Dig It To Dig It," the compositions are a delightful mix of up-tempo numbers and mellower tunes, highlighting the versatility and technical prowess of the artists involved. The remastered 1992 version ensures that the original recordings' clarity and richness are preserved, allowing modern audiences to fully appreciate the timeless quality of the music.

Art Farmer's distinctive tone and melodic phrasing are at the forefront, complemented by the expressive playing of Donald Byrd and the lyrical contributions of Idrees Sulieman. The album is a must-listen for jazz enthusiasts and anyone looking to explore the rich tapestry of mid-20th-century jazz. "Three Trumpets" stands as a classic example of the collaborative spirit and innovative sound that defined the Prestige All Stars during this prolific period.
