Product description

Blur, the iconic British band, takes a bold new direction with their ninth studio album, "Think Tank," released on April 1, 2003, under Parlophone UK. This album marks a departure from their traditional Britpop sound, blending elements of Madchester and alternative rock to create a unique and captivating listening experience.

"Think Tank" is a journey through 13 tracks, each offering a distinct flavor of Blur's evolution. The album opens with "Ambulance," setting the tone for the raw and energetic sound that follows. Standout tracks like "Crazy Beat" and "Good Song" showcase the band's ability to craft catchy melodies and memorable hooks, while "Caravan" and "Gene by Gene" delve into more experimental territories, highlighting Blur's versatility.

The album's title track, "Think Tank," is a standout, featuring a hypnotic beat and thought-provoking lyrics. "Moroccan Peoples Revolutionary Bowls Club" adds a touch of exoticism, reflecting the band's global influences. The closing track, "Battery in Your Leg (Includes 'Me, White Noise')," leaves a lasting impression with its haunting melody and introspective lyrics.

With a runtime of 57 minutes, "Think Tank" is a testament to Blur's enduring creativity and their ability to reinvent themselves. Fans of alternative rock and those looking for something fresh and exciting will find much to love in this album. "Think Tank" is not just another album from Blur; it's a bold statement of their artistic growth and a must-listen for anyone interested in the evolution of rock music.

This is a 2013 Reissue released as a 2LP set.

  • 2003's Pure Vinyl Essence

    5 out of 5 stars
    Yidonuv_DuisseAugust 15, 2025United States🇺🇸

This initial UK/European edition truly encapsulates the unfiltered essence of the album as it debuted back in 2003. The audio is rich and distinct — warm, immersive, and robust yet never overly refined. It doesn’t aim to be “high-fidelity,” but it’s vibrant and well-balanced, just as these tracks should sound. The vinyl itself spins quietly, with no annoying surface disturbances, and the pressing feels sturdy and dynamic. Guitars resonate with space, the bass hums deep and consistent, and Damon’s voice shines through clearly without being lost in the blend.Unlike subsequent re-releases with bonus tracks or thick vinyl, this version stays simple and pure. That’s its appeal — it’s the album as it was intended to be experienced in 2003, unaltered and direct. A genuine first pressing worth keeping.

    STUNNING packaging, sounds absolutely flawless.

  • Dubbed Melancholy Experience

    5 out of 5 stars
    BUUWJLUAGUTINXGUFebruary 25, 2025United States🇺🇸

I picked this up when it first came out back in 2003, fantastic album. There's a certain melancholy to the tracks. I reckon Coxon only makes a brief appearance here too. After Gorillaz blew up, Albarn was getting more and more involved. It's quite the dubbed out experience, but that's what I appreciate about it.

  • Unlock Hidden Dance Track

    4 out of 5 stars
    meozbFebruary 13, 2025United States🇺🇸

To access the secret track at the start of the CD, you gotta pause it on track 1. Then, hit rewind until you see minus 6:50. Press play and enjoy one of this album's more experimental dance tunes!

Has anyone els noticed this? The lyrics aren't completly spot on.
