About Guy Johnston

Guy Johnston is a celebrated British cellist, renowned as one of the most exciting musicians of his generation. Born in 1981, his career took off after winning the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year award in 2000. Since then, he has captivated audiences internationally with his virtuosic performances, spanning a wide range of choral and classical genres. Guy's achievements include opening the Proms and winning a Classical BRIT Award, solidifying his status as a standout talent. Beyond his performances, Guy is also an educator, set to become a professor of cello at the Royal Academy of Music in London starting September 2025. His journey as a wandering minstrel offers a unique glimpse into the musical life of a modern-day virtuoso.
