Previous feedback called this a pricey, gimmicky colored re-release. The original price is similar to the black vinyl, perhaps a couple bucks extra? Nowhere close to "three times" the cost of the black vinyl. It also sounds amazing, seriously doubt the black vinyl sounds any distinct. Maybe years ago colored vinyl had poor sound, but from an audiophile company in 2017, colored and black vinyl sound identical. Strongly suggest either color of this re-release, the audio is PHENOMENAL.
This album stands as the strongest testament to the trio's collective brilliance, though Ben's solo work also holds its own. Darren's "Magic" and the flawless harmonies on "Mess" shine, while the overall musical exploration is at its most captivating. The lighter tracks avoid the overly juvenile tone of past and future releases, and the intense moments are elevated by a welcome maturity.
This reissue is fantastic across the board. The jacket and artwork are top-notch, and the vinyl is pressed beautifully on a stunning opaque red. The sound quality is superb, really bringing out the songs in a way the original CD just couldn't.
