Product description

Prepare to be immersed in the avant-garde world of free jazz with Marshall Allen's latest offering, "The Omniverse Oriki." Set to release on September 12, 2025, under the independent label High Two Recordings, this album is a testament to Allen's enduring influence and innovation in the genre. Spanning a concise yet impactful 37 minutes, the album comprises three tracks titled "Omniverse Oriki 1," "Omniverse Oriki 2," and "Omniverse Oriki 3," each promising a unique exploration of sound and improvisation.

Marshall Allen, a veteran in the jazz scene, brings his extensive experience and distinctive style to this project. His work has always been characterized by its experimental nature and technical prowess, and "The Omniverse Oriki" is no exception. The album is a bold journey through the cosmos of free jazz, where Allen's mastery of the alto saxophone takes center stage. Each track is a testament to his ability to push boundaries and redefine the possibilities of the genre.

The album's title, "The Omniverse Oriki," hints at a spiritual and cosmic journey, blending the vastness of the universe with the traditional Japanese term for a Shinto prayer or chant. This fusion of concepts reflects Allen's ability to merge diverse influences into a cohesive and compelling musical narrative. The three-part structure of the album allows for a gradual unfolding of themes and motifs, creating a sense of continuity and progression.

"Omniverse Oriki 1" sets the stage with an explosive burst of energy, showcasing Allen's virtuosic playing and the ensemble's tight interplay. The second track, "Omniverse Oriki 2," delves deeper into the album's thematic explorations, with more intricate compositions and extended improvisations. Finally, "Omniverse Oriki 3" brings the journey to a close with a reflective and introspective piece, leaving the listener with a sense of resolution and fulfillment.

Marshall Allen's "The Omniverse Oriki" is a must-experience for fans of free jazz and experimental music. It is a celebration of improvisation, innovation, and the boundless possibilities of sound. As always, Allen's playing is both technically impressive and deeply expressive, making this album a standout addition to his already impressive discography.

This LP was released in 2025.
