Product description

The Strokes make a triumphant return with their sixth studio album, 'The New Abnormal', released on 10 April 2020 through Cult Records and RCA Records. This highly anticipated album marks the band's first full-length release in seven years, following 2013's 'Comedown Machine'. Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin at his Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California, 'The New Abnormal' is a cinematic masterpiece that showcases the band's signature sound with renewed energy and vigour.

The 9-track album features a mix of garage rock, indie rock, and alternative rock, with tracks like 'The Adults Are Talking', 'Selfless', and 'Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus' demonstrating the band's ability to craft infectious and memorable songs. The album also includes 'Bad Decisions', a collaboration with Billy Idol and Tony James, and 'Ode to the Mets', a nostalgic tribute to the band's hometown.

With a duration of 45 minutes, 'The New Abnormal' is a concise and well-crafted album that showcases The Strokes' growth and maturity as a band. The album's artwork, featuring a 1981 painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat titled 'Bird On Money', adds to the album's unique charm.

Overall, 'The New Abnormal' is a welcome return to form for The Strokes, and a testament to the band's enduring talent and creativity. With its blend of catchy hooks, driving rhythms, and atmospheric production, this album is sure to delight both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

This 2023 Limited Edition Reissue LP is pressed on Green vinyl.

amazing, peaceful pressing, and julian has never sounded this good in years. maybe ever.

  • Clingy but Pet-Friendly Design

Good press. I sliced my cling wrap deal not knowing it was clingy. What a poor design choice. Still, I'm alright with it, considering I have pets and it'd just gather pet fur.

  • The Strokes Lockdown Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    ykotsmiq4December 12, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The Strokes have truly outdone themselves here. This album has been my go-to for the 2020 lockdown. Perfect title for these strange times.

  • Packaging and Pressing Issues

    1 out of 5 stars
    hihngheallNovember 23, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Terrible in nearly every way, I'd give it a zero if that was an option. The excessive packaging has been talked about a lot, and I agree it's really bad, but the pressing is also way off-center, making tracks like Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus almost impossible to listen to.

  • Audio Quality with Issues

    3 out of 5 stars
    xubwncofklSeptember 26, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Audio quality is solid, absolutely, but there's a bit of surface noise and a hazy feel to the track. My version had a nasty scratch on A5. I might try to get a replacement.

About The Strokes

The Strokes, hailing from New York City, are a quintessential American rock band that emerged in 1998, spearheading the early-2000s garage rock and post-punk revival movements. Comprised of lead singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti, The Strokes quickly became known for their distinctive sound characterized by spiky guitars, chugging backbeats, and self-assured songwriting. Their debut album, "Is This It," released in 2001, catapulted them to fame and established them as a leading force in the indie rock scene. With a discography that includes six studio albums, including the Grammy Award-winning "The New Abnormal," The Strokes continue to influence and inspire with their timeless music. Despite their privileged backgrounds, the band's music often hints at a rough-and-tumble life, adding depth and authenticity to their sound. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to their music, The Strokes' catalog offers a rich and rewarding experience that transcends genres and generations.
