The Last Waltz" is undoubtedly a victorious album, standing out as one of those rare instances where a group of musicians intentionally and successfully orchestrated their own farewell. It carries a more laid-back vibe than "Rock of Ages", perhaps because there was immense pressure to create the ultimate live recordings, leading them to take it easy, relax, and simply have a good time! The only thing keeping me from giving it a perfect 5-star rating is the overabundance of special guest stars that I'm not particularly fond of. I'm aware that everyone here contributed to The Band's rise to rock stardom, but that doesn't necessarily mean they all enhanced the evening's events. Van Morrison, for instance, is quite exhausting to listen to. However, despite these few lackluster performances, there are standout moments like Neil Young, Muddy Waters, and The Staple Singers on "The Weight" (soooo good!) that help you overlook the weaker parts of this 3-set. All in all, it's an incredible finale for a band that gifted us with numerous unforgettable albums of genuinely American music.

While browsing a record store in Berlin, I came across what appears to be a brand new vinyl with a VG+ cover, priced at 36 euros! After running it through my Degritter, the results were amazing. WOW, it's a fantastic pressing, though it has a slightly 'digital' feel in certain parts, but overall, it's a wonderful pressing. The vinyl is quite rich, the vocals are prominent, and the guitar/bass sounds impeccable—a well-sounding record. I'd be thrilled to have a fat AAA version, but this is darn close! So thrilled. This is why vinyl shopping is so much fun. Every once in a while, you come across a hidden treasure you never thought you'd find.
