Product description

Quasimoto's The Further Adventures Instrumentals is a 52-minute sonic odyssey, released on 25 June 2013 via Stones Throw Records. This instrumental masterpiece weaves together a complex tapestry of experimental hip hop, alternative hip hop, jazz rap, and underground hip hop, with a nod to the classic boom bap sound.

Throughout the album's 24 tracks, Quasimoto's innovative production style shines, from the laid-back grooves of 'Greenery (Instrumental)' and 'Bus Ride (Instrumental)' to the more intense, jazz-infused rhythms of 'Crime (Instrumental)' and 'Shroom Music (Instrumental)'. The result is a richly textured and deeply immersive listening experience that showcases Quasimoto's unique blend of creativity and technical skill.

With its eclectic mix of moods and atmospheres, The Further Adventures Instrumentals is an album that will appeal to fans of underground hip hop and experimental music alike. Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

  • Solid Album, Pure Gold

this album is as solid as any of his other work... don't pay attention to those reviews that dismiss this lp, thinking it's not as good as The Unseen... it's pure gold. there's some truly beautiful synth moments, and it's great to hear the rest of some quotes that showed up in Madlib's previous productions.

  • Flawless Pressing, Stunning Packaging

Wow, this pressing is just incredible! It's flawless in every aspect. I own the initial release from Stones Throw, but honestly, their pressings never quite delivered great sound quality. But this one? It's spot on, exactly as it should be. It's completely silent, no pops or cracks—well, you might hear some, but that's just Madlib's genius using samples from old, worn-out vinyl records, so those cracks are part of the original recording. Plus, the packaging is fantastic. It's easily one of the most beautiful covers I've ever laid eyes on and felt. The soft finish with glossy accents is just perfect. It's made me appreciate this album even more than I already did.

  • Top 3 Hip Hop Album

This is the kind of release that makes me glad I stuck with my Vinyl Me Please subscription! The Further Adventures of Lord Quas is absolutely in my top 3 hip hop albums ever. It's an epic, disjointed journey where tracks and skits blend together, often interrupted or ending suddenly. And just as the title suggests, it's packed with some of the most daring experimentation you'll find in hip hop. Despite tackling heavy topics like homelessness, relationships, influences, genius, and OCD, the album keeps things light with its Alter Ego and playful antics. Even with its choppy moments, it demands to be heard from start to finish, and I'm thrilled Vinyl Me Please made that possible on vinyl. So many killer tracks here, but if I had to pick three, it'd be the powerful finale, "Privacy"; the second best record hunting song after PUTS' "The Dig", "Raw Addict Pt.2"; and of course, the MF DOOM collab, "Closer". Lord Quas, when's the next album coming out?

This is an utterly fantastic pressing! It's flawless in every aspect. I own the initial release from Stones Throw, but their pressings never quite hit the mark. This one, though, is spot on and sounds just as it should. It's silent, no hissing, no scratches, though you might catch some, but that's just Madlib's genius using samples from old, worn-out vinyl, so the cracks are part of the track. Plus, the packaging is top-notch. It's easily one of the most beautiful covers I've ever laid eyes on and felt. It's got a velvety finish with shiny accents. It's made me love this album even more.

I’m so glad I stuck with my Vinyl Me Please subscription because releases like this make me feel like I made the right choice. "The Further Adventures of Lord Quas" is definitely in my top 3 hip hop albums ever. It's this huge, disjointed mess where songs and skits blend together, sometimes cutting off suddenly or getting interrupted. And just like the title says, it's one of the most experimental hip hop albums out there. With its Alter Ego and silly bits, it manages to tackle some pretty serious stuff (like homelessness, relationships, influences, what makes a "genius", and OCD) without taking itself too seriously. Even though it can sound a bit choppy at times, you really need to listen to the whole thing, and I'm so happy Vinyl Me Please made that possible on vinyl. There are so many amazing tracks here, but if I had to pick three, they'd be the powerful closer, "Privacy"; the second best song about record hunting after PUTS’ “The Dig”, “Raw Addict Pt.2”, and of course, the MF DOOM feature, “Closer”. Lord Quas, when's the next album coming out?

About Quasimoto

Quasimoto, the alter ego of renowned hip hop producer Madlib, hails from Oxnard, California, and offers a unique blend of experimental and underground hip hop. Born out of Madlib's desire to rap over his own beats, Quasimoto features the distinctive high-pitched voice of Lord Quas, a character created by slowing down and speeding up Madlib's vocals. This side project is known for its eclectic mix of funk, jazz, soul, and blaxploitation samples, all woven together with Madlib's signature scatter-brained production style. Quasimoto's lyrics often tackle themes of violence and drug use with a comedic and satirical twist, providing a fresh and engaging take on gangsta-rap. With a discography that includes standout albums like "The Unseen" and "Yessir Whatever," Quasimoto continues to captivate fans with its innovative sound and playful lyricism.
