Product description

Eberhard Weber's debut album, "The Colours Of Chloë," is a captivating journey into the world of contemporary jazz and fusion, recorded in December 1973 and released on ECM Records in April 1974. This 40-minute masterpiece showcases Weber's virtuosity on the double bass and his innovative approach to composition, blending elements of jazz, classical, folk, and even world music into a cohesive and evocative soundscape.

The album opens with "More Colours," a dynamic and rhythmic piece that sets the stage for the journey ahead. "The Colours of Chloë," the title track, is a mesmerizing exploration of texture and tone, highlighting Weber's ability to create a rich, cinematic sound. "An Evening with Vincent van Ritz" offers a more introspective and lyrical interlude, while "No Motion Picture" brings the album to a close with a sense of resolution and tranquility.

"The Colours Of Chloë" is an ambitious work that helped define the ECM sound—picturesque, romantic, and at times rhythmically complex. Weber's compositions are both intricate and accessible, making this album a standout in the genres of jazz fusion, krautrock, and free jazz. Whether you're a longtime fan of Eberhard Weber or a newcomer to his music, "The Colours Of Chloë" is a must-listen that continues to captivate audiences nearly five decades after its release.

This LP was released in 1974.

  • Krautrock Calms Autistic Son

    5 out of 5 stars
    puhyted4500January 2, 2026United States🇺🇸

This 1974 Krautrock gem with its jazzy vibe is quite the peculiar addition to my collection, considering I'm more into wave, punk, and industrial stuff. But I must say, I'm really drawn to the melancholic vibe of this album, and it holds a special place in my heart for a particular reason. I stumbled upon the fact that this music has a wonderful impact on my severely autistic, non-verbal son. Whenever I play it, he seems to calm down, almost like he's tuning into the sounds coming from the speakers, and it appears to help him relax a bit, shifting from his usual hyperactive, tense state. I believe he genuinely connects with the record's soothing atmosphere and the subtle yet captivating melodies of the fretless double-bass. Each time, there's a touch of magic in the air, and you certainly don't need to be highly sophisticated to sense it. Only a few records have this effect on my special boy, which is what makes this one a true treasure. Thanks for these precious moments, Herr Weber.
