This release is truly disappointing. The recording quality is just plain terrible, and the singing is way off-key! I'm a huge NRPS fan, but this one doesn't do them any favors at all. It must have been a really off night, because it sounds so unprofessional. I'm glad I didn't spend $60 on the Black Friday RSD vinyl. If you want to hear NRPS at their best live, go for their Columbia album 'Home, Home On The Road'—it's probably the best choice. I'm genuinely upset about the quality of this release. I can't believe the people at Omnivore thought this sonic disaster was good enough for a commercial release. As for the sound engineering, well, it's far from great. This performance should have stayed in the vaults. It's that bad.
I purchased the 3 LP set brand new. I'd love to get a refund. This live recording is truly subpar. I can't speak to the band's performance (others have noted they're not at their best) but the recording itself is quite flat and the vocals are overdriven (slightly distorted). Not a pleasant listening experience.
Oh boy. This one was a real letdown. Complete waste of cash. I'm a huge NRPS fan and thought this live album would be a killer record capturing their energy. Boy, was I mistaken. The sound quality is terrible, and the band's performance is far from their best. I can't even bear to listen to the whole thing, which is unusual for me since I always listen to live albums in full, from start to finish. But not this one. Alright, I've said my piece. Steer clear of this record unless you're a completist and just have to have every NRPS release. Otherwise, their studio albums are easy to find, often in the bargain bins and usually in good shape.
