About Mo Foster

Mo Foster was a versatile British session musician, renowned for his exceptional bass guitar skills across jazz, jazz-fusion, and rock genres. Born on December 22, 1944, Foster began his professional music career in 1968, after initially studying Physics and Maths at the University of Sussex. He became a sought-after session bassist in the 1970s and 1980s, collaborating with legendary artists such as Jeff Beck, Phil Collins, and Gerry Rafferty. Foster's contributions extended beyond performing; he was also a talented record producer, composer, solo artist, and author. Known for his innovative approach, he began experimenting with fretless bass at the age of 31, adding another layer to his already impressive musical repertoire. Foster's legacy as a pioneer of bass in Britain continues to inspire musicians and fans alike.
