Tchaikovsky & Sibelius: Violin Concertos - Leila Josefowicz

Product description

Leila Josefowicz's debut recording, released in 1995, is a captivating journey through two of the most celebrated violin concertos in classical music: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, and Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47. At just 18 years old, Josefowicz delivers a mature and expressive performance that showcases her technical prowess and deep musicality.

Accompanied by the renowned Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, Josefowicz navigates the intricate melodies and dynamic ranges of these concertos with remarkable skill. The album opens with Tchaikovsky's Allegro moderato, a lively and virtuosic piece that sets the tone for the rest of the recording. The Canzonetta. Andante and the Finale. Allegro vivacissimo follow, each offering a unique blend of emotional depth and technical brilliance.

The second half of the album features Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47. The Allegro moderato begins with a sense of urgency and intensity, while the Adagio di molto provides a moment of reflection and introspection. The final movement, Allegro, ma non tanto, brings the concerto to a thrilling conclusion.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 5 minutes, this album is a testament to Josefowicz's extraordinary talent and her ability to bring these timeless works to life. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this recording is sure to leave a lasting impression.
