Product description

Immerse yourself in the timeless brilliance of Bronislaw Huberman's masterful interpretations of Beethoven's and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concertos. This captivating album, released on Naxos in 2000, showcases Huberman's extraordinary talent and volatile temperament, which crackles through every bar of these iconic works. Recorded with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the album features three movements each from Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61, and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, TH 59.

Huberman, a prodigy who performed Brahms' Violin Concerto at the age of 13, brings a depth of emotion and technical prowess to these performances. The album spans a total of 66 minutes, offering a rich and fulfilling listening experience. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Huberman's renditions of these concertos are sure to leave a lasting impression. The combination of Huberman's virtuosity and the orchestral support from the Vienna Philharmonic makes this album a standout in the classical music repertoire.

About Bronislaw Huberman

Bronislaw Huberman (1882-1947) was a celebrated Jewish-Polish violinist renowned for his individualistic and deeply personal interpretations. A student of the legendary Joseph Joachim, Huberman stood as one of the most eminent violinists of his generation, earning praise from esteemed conductors like Furtwangler, Toscanini, and Walter. Beyond his musical prowess, Huberman was a humanitarian, dedicating himself in the early 1930s to saving Jewish musicians in Europe before the Holocaust. He founded the Palestine Symphony, now the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, rescuing an estimated 1000 lives. His legacy endures not just for his extraordinary artistry, but also for his courage and compassion in the face of adversity.
