Product description

"Talkin' & Walkin'" is a seminal album by the prolific jazz pianist Kenny Drew, recorded in 1955 and originally released on the Jazz:West label in 1956. This captivating work is a testament to Drew's virtuosity and his significant contributions to the hard bop and bebop genres. The album features the Kenny Drew Quartet, delivering a collection of twelve tracks that span a diverse range of styles, from cool jazz to blues, all within a compact 67-minute runtime.

The album opens with the title track "Talkin'-Walkin'," setting the stage for a journey through Drew's musical prowess. Standout tracks like "In The Prescribed Manner" and "Prelude To A Kiss" showcase Drew's ability to blend technical skill with emotional depth. About Kenny Drew

Kenny Drew, the American-Danish jazz pianist, was a virtuoso of the hard bop and bebop genres, leaving an indelible mark on the jazz world. Born in New York in 1928, Drew began his musical journey at the tender age of five, studying classical piano, and by eight, he was already giving recitals. Influenced by the legendary Bud Powell, Drew developed his unique style, seamlessly fitting into hard-bop settings. His decision to move to Copenhagen in 1964 might have led to his underrated status, but it also allowed him to create a rich body of work that continues to captivate jazz enthusiasts. Drew's discography is a testament to his prowess, with notable albums like "Morning" and "Kenny Drew Trio" showcasing his extraordinary talent. His son, Kenny Drew Jr., also carried the torch, becoming an amazing pianist in his own right. Drew's legacy endures, his music a timeless journey through the heart of jazz.
