Amazing organ and huge brass band album! Loads of enjoyment and even greater, it's a VAN GELDER gem!!!!
Among the more delightful collaborations between organ and big brass bands I've come across, "SUPER SOUL" truly shines thanks to the lively arrangements by Richard Evans, which perfectly match Holmes' smooth, effervescent solos. Standout tracks include "Ain't That Peculiar", "Function At The Junction", "Green Dolphin Street", "Back Home Again In Indiana", and the title track. This 1967 stereo pressing is flawless, with the organ sounding rich and warm, the brass punchy as it should be, and a soundstage that's both lush and detailed. My copy plays beautifully, with hardly any surface noise to speak of.
