Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
This album isn't particularly stunning, yet it's a pleasing listen. The tracks are quite progressive and not the kind you'd typically sing along to. As I mentioned, the themes aren't incredibly powerful, but they'll still catch your attention with their enjoyable sounds.
In my opinion, the duo of German DJs seems to be stuck in a creative rut, both in terms of ideas and style. While "DJ Culture" and "Nightclubbing" offered generally good tracks that were diverse and innovative, "Substance" gives me the feeling that I've heard most of these tracks before—they all sound quite alike. A standout track is "Eleve's Cry"; it's a typical B&J sound that I enjoy. However, perhaps Blank&Jones should reconsider the sounds they create: YOU NEED SOME FRESH MATERIAL, IDEAS, AND STYLE!
