This album deserves a perfect 5-star rating, it's James at their absolute finest! The drumming is incredible, the energy is infectious, and the lyrics are top-notch. Every track on this record is a gem, from the quirky 'An earwig crawled into my ear' to the powerful 'Scarecrow' and the smooth 'She's coming on strong!'. 'So many ways' is just hip, 'Johnny Yen' is a killer, and 'Summer song' is a delight, and that's just side one! Crank up the volume when you're in a great mood and alone, and let the magic happen. This is how James sounded when they toured with The Smiths on the 'Meat is murder' tour: full of enthusiasm, energy, and a touch of madness - absolutely 'fantastic'!
