Product description

Immerse yourself in the whimsical and enchanting world of Oscar Straus' "Die lustigen Nibelungen," a delightful operetta that showcases the composer's knack for blending humor, romance, and drama. Released in 2011 by Capriccio, this album captures the essence of Straus' first major operetta success, originally premiered in the early 20th century. With a runtime of 1 hour and 5 minutes, the album features 19 tracks that take you through the hilarious and heartwarming adventures of the Nibelungs, a legendary Germanic tribe.

The operetta is filled with memorable melodies and witty lyrics, expertly performed by a talented cast. The overture sets the stage with its lively and engaging music, while the subsequent tracks weave a tapestry of enchanting arias, duets, and ensemble pieces. From the humorous ensemble "Er sieht so miesepetrig aus" to the romantic duet "Jetzt, wo die Nacht zur sussen Ruhe ladet," each song offers a unique glimpse into the characters and their escapades.

Straus' "Die lustigen Nibelungen" is a testament to the enduring appeal of operetta, combining the best of classical music with the charm of theatrical storytelling. Whether you're a seasoned fan of the genre or a newcomer looking to explore its delights, this album is sure to captivate and entertain. The 2011 recording, featuring the Kölner Rundfunkchor and Kölner Rundfunkorchester under the direction of Siegfried Köhler, brings new life to this classic work, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in the rich history of operetta.
