Product description

Immerse yourself in the serene and contemplative world of "Still Waters," a captivating album by the renowned bassist David Friesen, released in 1997. This enchanting collection of ten tracks, spanning 42 minutes, is a testament to Friesen's mastery of his craft, accompanied by the talented Ralf Illenberger and Ulrike Dinter. Recorded at the iconic Thundermountain Studios in Sedona, USA, and with additional sessions at Horch Studio in Loch, Germany, the album exudes a sense of tranquility and depth.

"Still Waters" is a harmonious blend of jazz and new age elements, creating a soothing atmosphere that invites introspection and relaxation. The album opens with the introspective "By Myself," setting the tone for the reflective journey that follows. Standout tracks like "Caveland" and "In My Father's Likeness" showcase Friesen's exceptional skill on the bass, while "Still Waters" and "Reflections, Pt. I & II" highlight the album's meditative qualities. The collaboration with Illenberger and Dinter adds layers of richness, making each track a unique experience.

Friesen's use of a Hemage bass, alongside Illenberger's acoustic bass, creates a distinctive sound that is both innovative and timeless. The album's production, overseen by Shamrock Records, ensures that every note is crisp and every melody is clear, allowing the listener to fully appreciate the artistry involved.

Whether you're a longtime fan of David Friesen or new to his work, "Still Waters" offers a profound listening experience that will resonate long after the final note fades.
