Product description

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Carl Stamitz, a prolific composer of the late 18th century, with his captivating "Orchestral Quartets, Op. 14." Released on November 21, 2006, by Naxos, this album is a testament to Stamitz's significant contributions to orchestral and chamber music. The collection features six orchestral quartets, each a masterpiece in its own right, performed by the New Zealand Chamber Orchestra under the skilled direction of Donald Armstrong.

The album spans a variety of moods and tempos, from the lively and energetic "Allegro assai" to the graceful and serene "Andante di molto." Each movement is a journey through the rich tapestry of Stamitz's musical genius, showcasing his ability to blend orchestral and chamber music elements seamlessly. The duration of the album is a concise yet fulfilling 1 hour and 6 minutes, making it an ideal choice for both casual listeners and classical music enthusiasts.

Stamitz's "Orchestral Quartets, Op. 14" is not just a collection of compositions; it's a window into the musical landscape of the late 18th century. The album offers a unique opportunity to experience the evolution of orchestral music during this period, as Stamitz's works bridge the gap between the classical and romantic eras. Whether you're a fan of classical music or simply looking to explore new musical horizons, this album is a must-listen.
