I'd often pondered where Chuck drew inspiration for "You Never Can Tell". The tune feels quite out of character for him. But now, I've got my answer. Chuck, you sly dog: buried in the Wikipedia page for the song is a nod to Michael Torok's Caribbean[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNs1gedG_fg]. Spot on, that's the one!
This Chuck Berry album is my all-time favorite. From start to finish, it's pure Rock & Roll brilliance. I've always had a soft spot for 'No Particular Place to Go,' ever since I was a youngster. In high school, I even rewrote the lyrics myself. Chuck was the undisputed king, and this album showcases him at his absolute finest.
