Product description

Dive into the captivating world of Lewis Spratlan's "In Memoriam / Streaming," a classical masterpiece released on April 28, 2009, under the Navona label. This album is a profound exploration of themes and emotions, presented in a four-part suite that culminates in the evocative "Streaming" for piano quartet. Spratlan, a renowned composer, masterfully weaves together intricate melodies and harmonies, creating a rich tapestry of sound that resonates with depth and complexity.

The album begins with "In Memoriam: Pt. I: Prologue and Prophecy," setting the stage for a journey that delves into the human experience. "In Memoriam: Pt. II: The Hero" continues this exploration, followed by the introspective "In Memoriam: Pt. III: Death and Lives of a Revolutionary." The suite concludes with "In Memoriam: Pt. IV: Mexican Serenade and Prayer to the Sun," a piece that blends cultural influences with Spratlan's distinctive style.

"Streaming," performed by the talented ensemble of Yvonne Lam, David Kim, Christian-Pierre La Marca, and Xiang Zou, showcases Spratlan's ability to create music that is both technically demanding and deeply expressive. The album's duration of 1 hour and 8 minutes offers a substantial and immersive listening experience, making it a standout addition to any classical music collection. Whether you're a longtime fan of Spratlan's work or new to his compositions, "In Memoriam / Streaming" promises a rewarding and engaging exploration of the human condition through the lens of classical music.
