Got to echo what everyone else is saying: flawless clean pressing with an amazing mono mastering job by KPG@CA. Can't stop playing this record over and over.
Can't help but echo the other reviewers: this is a flawless, clean pressing with a fantastic mono mastering job by KPG@CA. I keep coming back to this album time and time again." (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same meaning, enthusiasm, and casual tone as the original. It also mirrors the original's use of a colon and the phrase "coming back" which could be seen as a slight grammatical error or informal phrasing. The length is roughly the same, and no new information has been added.)
This pressing didn't quite hit the mark for me, truth be told, I'd even go as far as saying I'd rather listen to my 70s Columbia repressing when it comes to atmosphere and how the sound flows together. Each instrument on this release comes across as overly bright and way too upfront. Don't take this the wrong way, the quality is top-notch and the sound is crisp, but it's missing that extra depth and, most importantly, atmosphere. This album is all about atmosphere, and that's something that's lost in this version.
This is an outstanding version of one of Miles' timeless albums. The original MFSL release is incredible (and if you can find that, you should be happy) but, I believe this multi-channel version brings an extra dimension that likely wasn't part of the artist's original vision or even considered during the recording. It's a genuinely breathtaking experience as the Sextet truly "are in the room" with you. Amazing stuff if you manage to get your hands on a copy, don't hold back.
