  • Smooth Jazz Escape

Alright, I'll be honest with you. I genuinely like this album. Not because it's some kind of extraordinary work—it's smooth jazz, for lack of a better term, which never really reaches masterpiece status. There's nothing groundbreaking or innovative here, and it's quite lighthearted. In fact, it's like the cheesiest "Weather Channel Music" you can find. But I'm a fan of Klugh's skill, which shines much better here with the full band and synth accompaniment than it did with the orchestration on some of his other records. This is just the perfect music to clear out the noise and stress that lingers after work until you get in your car and put this on. It's a sweet escape for me. Gentle nylon strings on his acoustic guitar to soothe the buzzing. And some solid melodic compositions as well. It's worth having for those moments when you need it. But if you're looking for some real jazz guitar, check out Pat Metheny or Jao Gilberto instead.
