About Ahmed Rushdi

Ahmed Rushdi, born on April 24, 1934, in Hyderabad Deccan, India, was a legendary Pakistani playback singer whose voice defined the golden age of Pakistani film music. Known for his versatility and distinctive high tenor notes, Rushdi was a pioneer in South Asian music, often regarded as the first pop singer of the region. His iconic song "Ko Ko Korina" from the 1966 film Armaan remains a timeless classic. With a career spanning decades, Rushdi's discography is a treasure trove of emotional depth and musical brilliance, encompassing genres like ghazal and qawwali. His ability to convey complex emotions through his voice made him one of the greatest singers in South Asia. Tragically, Rushdi passed away on April 11, 1983, following a heart attack, but his legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians and fans alike.
