Frode Gjerstad is a pioneering figure in the world of free jazz and avant-garde music, hailing from Stavanger, Norway. Born in 1948, Gjerstad has carved out a unique path as a saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist, known for his distinctive melodic approach and "old school" jazz phrasing.
