This album is absolutely fantastic! The tunes are so good that it's hard to believe they're not from a classic, old-school record. I could easily fool people into thinking it's a modern reissue of a lost 70's soul treasure. If that's your kind of music, you won't find any disappointment here. The pressing on my copy is nearly perfect—crisp, clean, and flat with a funky groove! The whole package is top-notch. Plus, it's awesome to enjoy that classic soul sound while knowing some of the money goes to a musician still honing his skills. P.S. Be sure to catch Lee Fields on the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series (on their site or YouTube) where he performs a few tracks from the album—it's an incredible show!
This album is absolutely phenomenal in every aspect. I remember reading somewhere that Al Green was dubbed 'the last of the great soul singers,' but after giving this album a spin, I'd have to strongly disagree.
The sound quality of this pressing is incredible. I'm really into the cover's quality, which is a glossy front with a flat, black and white back. It gives off that classic 60’s album vibe, both in look and feel.
Absolutely flat, no noise at all. Outstanding pressing. Amazing depth and the mastering is spot on for this album. I don't get the “true” mono talk mentioned earlier but I've got a stereo stylus and it sounds fantastic. She's crisp and punchy. Kudos to Daptone for caring
The tapping on side B is quite distracting. The packaging and record look fantastic, though. I'm hoping a replacement will fix the problem.
