This album, a testament to Schöllhorn's unique compositional voice, offers a rich tapestry of sounds that blend tradition and innovation. Born in 1962, Schöllhorn is a German composer known for his contemporary classical works, and this album is a stellar example of his artistic prowess.

About Johannes Schöllhorn

Johannes Schöllhorn is a contemporary German composer, born in the picturesque town of Murnau am Staffelsee in 1962. His musical journey began with studies in composition under the guidance of renowned figures such as Klaus Huber, Emmanuel Nunes, and Mathias Spahlinger, and in musical theory with Peter Förtig. Schöllhorn's work is celebrated for its depth and innovation, with notable performances by esteemed ensembles like the Zafraan Ensemble, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and DSO Berlin. His compositions, such as "Grisaille" and "Sérigraphies," showcase his unique acoustic and orchestral arrangements, inviting audiences into a world of rich sonic landscapes. Schöllhorn's influence extends beyond his compositions; he has also shared his expertise as a teacher at the Zürich-Winterthur University of Music and as a conductor of the Ensemble for New Music. His creative process is deeply inspired by silence and introspection, as evidenced by his experiences at Civitella. Schöllhorn's music is not just heard but experienced, making him a significant voice in contemporary classical music.
